Poor Man’s Gambit played at our wedding, and from a toddler dancing with his playhorse to bringing tears to the eyes of my new mother-in-law and her sister, everyone loved them. We’d asked that they play Wild Mountain Thyme for our dance, and as they played and we danced I turned and saw my mother, others of my family, and other guests standing up singing along — I will never forget it and am now getting teary-eyed... again. In short, they truly helped make our wedding a memorable night, and we are already trying to think of what other parties we can throw as an excuse to invite them back again. They were a lovely, great presence, and we will always be grateful to them.

I can't say enough good things about Corey and Poor Man's Gambit. They played for my daughter's wedding reception at McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and it was simply magical. We had some young dancers who performed as well and they coordinated with Corey to make it all go smoothly. After attending big weddings with typical DJ's, this was a breath of fresh air, so unique, so lovely and so many compliments from the guests. Everyone loved the music, were fascinated by the different instruments and no one could resist the urge to clap & tap feet along with the music. As for making arrangements with Corey, it could not have gone any smoother. He was quick to answer concerns or questions I had throughout our planning. They were all set up on time when we arrived and provided the most wonderful entertainment right through the night. Just fantastic in every way!!! You made our day!!!

We hired Poor Man’s gambit to accompany ceili dancing at the welcome event for our wedding, and we’re so happy we did! The event was a little unorthodox - in planning it, we initially weren’t exactly sure what we wanted the band to do, but Corey worked with us to come up with a plan, and it was precisely what we wanted! They are very experienced and their advice was very valuable for planning. For example, they suggested playing at a slower tempo while people were learning the dances and then speeding it up after most people had gotten the hang of it. The music itself was amazing and it really enlivened the crowd. They are high-energy and extremely talented. We got many compliments from our guests about the quality of the music and how much fun they were having. Having live music really made a huge difference for our event. We really appreciated their patience too - their number one priority was that the guests were having a good time, even if this meant less playing time (the band couldn’t play while our guests were learning the dances). They were very easy-going and flexible and willing to tweak the plan on the fly during the event. The band was incredibly professional throughout. They were polite, on time, and didn’t need any guidance. Corey was easy to work with and was very responsive to emails. If you are considering hiring them for your event - don’t hesitate!

It was good to see PMG at the Meadery and the Bethlehem Hotel last weekend. I've emailed the festival told them I'd like to see you back in the festival lineup.

Poor Man's Gambit was awesome! They played for the first hour of our wedding reception as guests arrived, and everyone had nothing but great things to say about their performance, as well as enthusiasm. They were so friendly that we invited them to stay, eat, drink and dance with us! Loved everything about working with them - they are super responsive and accommodating. Thank you all again for a great night!

Before this fantastic 3 member group left the event yesterday, I gave Corey my business card and told him that if he needed a reference, (which he never has to worry about,) to have people call me personally. I booked Corey and the group for our retiring pastor who is a lover of Celtic, Irish music and they did not disappoint. There was not one person in attendance that was disappointed and some became lovers of the music as well. I booked the group from listening to their music online, listening to them live totally blew me away. This is a great group for any Celtic, Irish event your planning and the cost is well worth it, in fact, I would have paid more. A special shout out to the original members Corey, Dylan for asking Rose to join your group yesterday, she was a fantastic addition. I rec'd such praise for booking this group. BTW, when Poor Man's Gambit is playing at your event, ask Cory to teach the Irish 2 Step, what great fun and he has a great voice! This group needs to be traveling the world to get their sound out to more and more people. Thanks from all of us at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church and we look forward to having the group come back again.

I am blown away by this bands talent and energy! They had everyone on the dance floor and made our wedding day very special. The one thing I wanted to splurge on for the wedding was the band and I am so happy I hired these guys! They did a great job during cocktail hour, they walked around and played music. They also learned my father daughter dance for me. I rewrote the lyrics for my father and they did a beautiful job. I come from an irish family that appreciates irish music but even the italians were on the dance floor, haha. I had so many comments of the band, me and my husbands families really enjoyed watching their talent, it puts a different element to a wedding to have live stringed instruments! They did a great job leading the wedding as well, making the announcements at the right times :) - Thank you guys! you made our day so special!

Poor Mans Gambit played for our Wedding Reception and Cocktail Hour in July. They were very easy to work with and were always available to communicate with before the event making the planning easy. They handled their work professionally and were very fun, lively and entertaining during the event. Thanks guys!

Poor Man's Gambit was a pleasant surprise at this year's Fairfield County Irish Festival. I loved the energy they displayed on the stage and the mastery of their instruments was amazing. The poor fiddle was at the mercy of Genevieve's bow and i was waiting for Corey's accordian to explode the way he was killing it. Dlyan however had no problem keeping up with the two of them, Great job guys and hope to see you next year.
